Eley Match Ammunition

Question I have been using Eley match EPS i purchased 2 years ago,today at a club match one shooter said that eley changed the priming and that it can erode the chamber,he stated he ran a patch through his rifle and the patch contained a gritty substance,any comments.

Tired old conspiracy story - gets beat to death about once a month around here. (try the search function) ALL .22 RF ammo is gritty and dirty. Shows how ofter he cleans his rifle!

Silica is a byproduct (or product) of the priming compound. Silica is simply sand (or glass). It is present in all Eley ammo that I know of in the last four years. I would not be concerned about it because many, many shooters with high cost equipment use the same ammo.

I think if you closely at other brands of good ammo you will see that Eley isn't the only one using silica. They are the only one willing to tell you they are using it.
