doublestack to singlestack magazine feed question

So here's my situation. I've got a Stiller TAC338 action, I'm trying to build a system and get it to hold three large cases plus one in the chamber for a hunting setup.....and I believe great hanging-down magazines ALA "Tac Rifles" to be an abomination upon the face of the land. Watching our boys "train" to carry two-handed, waddling around like Auntie Myrtle carrying the soup tureen gives me gas...

I'd like the rifle to carry at the magazine and hold three (or four!) rounds.

bottom metal I've got to hand is;

- HS Prec removable box LA (two rds)
- Remington removable box LA (two rds)
- Some other brand removable box from Brownell's (two rds)
- Surgeon w/magazine (infinite rds, blechh)
- Badger w/magazine (infinite rds, blechh)
- Wyatt box (two rds)
- Weatherby box (two rds)
- Factory Rem 600 box (two rds)
- Factory Rem700 box (two rds)

Right now I'm cutting up centerfeed single stack mags and grafting them onto double stack boxes and having limited success. I know it _can_ work because double stack pistols do it alla time but I'm having a time.

Has anyone here ever tried to make or modify a double stack mag for center feed on a rifle????

Anyone got ideas about the correct ratios or geometry?

thanks

Al, I don't have a clue, but in Houston there is a Gunsmith named Charlie Sisk who specializes in stuff like this, that being, making large case Rifles feed. Just google Sisk Rifles in Houston........jackie
