220 Russian
As I understand it the 220 Russian case was designed and is exclusively manufactured by Lapua, based on the Soviet 7.62 x39
I emailed and received a drawing from Namm Lapua Oy, dd. 2002-02-04, now on a dead hard disk, though I did print a hard copy.
It gave the following dimensions in mm, Rim 11.2, Head 11.16, length to neck at 9.2 dia - 28.35, shoulder/neck 38.2, case length 38.7, shoulder inclusive angle 43 degrees.
These dimensions are slightly different than shown in the CIP drawing and others, and it does surprise me CIP and Lapua are different as I am sure Lapua are a member/associate of CIP

i see that the differance is in shoulder.do you gain much speed in bullets over a 22 ppc.woud like to use the 22 for ground hog hunting .also could some one send me a 220 beggs case to look at please.thanks.

A 220 Beggs looks exactly like a 220 Russian to the naked eye. The only small difference is a little tighter radius at the neck/shoulder junction on the Beggs. Gene felt like it helped limit brass growth and need for trimming. I can't say either way because I've never owned a 220 Russian but I've owned a few 220 Beggs bbls over the years. To me, it still needs more frequent trimming than most cases with less case taper. Without a 220 R to compare, I couldn't say if it helps or not but that I think his logic was/is sound.
