It started out windy from the start and got worse. 1 inch groups were as common as sub inchers. By noon it was real ugly. Charles Huckabee and Larry Bagget were the most consistent shooters today and come out on top when finished. Charles is amazing. How he can pull out a .4 when the wind is blowing the flags over and going back and forth I will never know. Overall it was a good time. Wade Hull kept up the good work and finished 4th for his first real shoot. Jackie was 3rd overall with Bagget second and Huckabee first. Charles is a class act and a great guy beside being one hell of a shooter. Thanks to eveyone coming out and hope to see you at the Crawfish. Glenn Chism took lots of pics that maybe he will upload of James handing out the trophies. The traveling tropy finally has a new home for the year.

from the far North ...

great shooting Charles, from your Canadian friends

- looking forward to seeing you at the Supershoot!

Great Match........Hell Hole Conditions!!!!!!!

You can see by the aggs that what we had at Denton this week end turned out to be a "survival of the fittest". Just about everybody had at least one 'train wreck' that would have usually spelled doom, but since everybody was having an equally tough time, it came down to who made the fewest mistakes.
I noticed on the Rachels Glenn thread that no body was using a tuner. Well, at Denton, they were quite numerous, in fact, the top three in the 4-Gun all used tuners. As was said in that thread, this might be a regional thing.
Congratulations to Charles, and every one else who managed to garner something. After a harrowing day shooting in 25 mph switching winds, (and the 6 hour drive home), I can say that I am not only metally drained, but physically beat. This is two Region Matches in a row where you were just about scared to look through the scope after every shot. I don't know about the rest of the competitors, but I am ready for an old fashion "trigger pull', or at least once see two flags pointed in the same direction.
Since our next big match is The Crawfish at Tomball, I doubt it will be there. Maybe Seymour, (fat chance):D
I was also ate up with the "stupid" from the minute I arrived the Range, in that I managed to back my Diesel Pusher Motor Home into a ditch. Believe me, when it comes to things being stuck, there is nothing "more stuck" than a big stuck Motorhome. I was up the better part of the night waiting on a heavy duty wrecker to come and pull me out. That cost me, in Benchrest Terms, at least the cost of a new barrel.
But I still had fun. Any time you get to go up against The Huckebas, Baggets, Gores, Olsterdorfs, Hunters, Horns and the likes of this world, it is worth the trip.........jackie

Jackie's life coach

Benchrest shooters, is your life stuck in a rut? Are you mired in a morass up to your axles? Don't wait around in a ditch. Call Jackie's physic wrecker service now. Let them throw you the cable of hope and pull your troubles away. Ask for the man who has been there . Ask for Jackie. Tim

Is it just me...

look at Baggatt...why that damn pharmacist looks stoned! Even James Statham is amazed as he gives Larry his wood. I always wondered how Larry could look so happy while shooting big groups and dancing around the loading area. He gives a whole new meaning to the term "Texas Two Step".

But, congratulations to Larry and all the shooters for supporting the tournament in tough conditions...it is snowing very hard here in Utah right now and I would love to be Texas with you guys.

Jim

Though I didn't shoot I did get the chance to meander over and shoot the s*#t for a bit. Good to see a lot of you all again. Congrats to all the winners.

I wish you guys would not make fun of Larry. When it comes time to stand and deliver I want him standing there. I'm talking about the ice cream store at the rattle snake last year. He knows what I'm talking about.
Mike

I want to thank everyone again for coming. I want to congradulate not just the winners. But, everyone that came out and shot. Glad to see some new faces and see some of the regulars. We had a good turn out. THanks to Jerry, Curtis & Mark for helping setup and take down the backers and frames. I want to thank Don Shields for scoring. I want to thank my wife(Rita) & Brandon for doing a supper job with the targets.
Hopefully I'll see you again for our next match Hotter 'N Hell in June.

Again great shooting.

James Statham

Hopefully you enjoyed the F-15 flyover.

Jerry, you and James ran a very nice shoot. Everything ran very smooth and yet not rushed. The food was great and all the folks, well what can I say. No distractions other than Jackie trying to back a motor home around a sharp corner. It was only buried axle deep. I knew I had a chance this week-end when his aim was off that bad.

Erickson, you be nice to me. You may need more drugs.

Mike, I still get irritated when I think of our incidence. I either need to start taking Prozac or start getting into fighting shape again. Prozac probably wound't help (no one would recognize me) Sure hasn't done much for Libby.

Thanks again for a nice shoot

Larry
