cratering primers

I am getting some cratering primers, I have about .010 clearance between the pin & the hole, question is I can correct this easily by bushing the bolt head, but will it do anything for accuracy.

While it might not help accuracy very much at all, the possibility of blowing a primer and gas cutting the firing pin and bolt face will be greatly reduced.

If your shooting a 6BR or a 25-06 you'll find they both like alot of pressure to get to the best accuracy. My 700 Remington would crater so much the cases would no longer stand on there own.A quick trip to Gre-Tan Rifles and all was well.

That is entirely too m uch clearance between the pin and the hole. Even moderate loads will crater with that much clearance.

As Lynn said, get it fixed.........jackie
