"Colonoscopy"

No one ever asks for a Colonoscopy

My wife and I have just changed doctors and the new doctor asked my wife when the last time she had a colonoscopy because she did not see it on the chart. The answer was never so the doctor had her lined up for one in about two weeks.

If you are waiting for the funny part, there is not one here. They found a cancer tumor in the colon and a surgery was scheduled for the next morning. The doctors are hopeful that they caught it in time. The growth was restricted to the inside of the colon and had not developed on the outside.

They still found cancer cells on lymph nodes. Next week she will have her second chemotherapy out of 12 in the next six months. She has a great attitude and there is a good chance she will recover.

I want everyone who reads this to know that without this procedure my wonderful wife would have not had a chance of watching our grand children grow and develop.

I am glad to see this thread at this time. Something like this helps you get your priorities straight. This is hopefully one case of a colonoscopy saving a life.

And the colon is not but about 5 feet long, more or less.

I know where your at bill, I had colon surgery earlier this year. mine had manifested to the outside also in the lymph node also. With the 6 months of chemo I'm 50% for 5 year plan. Hope everything goes well for you and your wife.

Mr. Wynne

My prayers go out to you and your wonderful wife from the Lone Star State. With the funny part of the post aside I do wish you both all the best

Gettin' Old

Medical procedures are always lots of fun.......maybe for the doctor. Be wary when he says "You might experience a mild discomfort with this procedure".
Last year I "experienced" needle biopsy on the prostate.....twice, root canal on teeth......twice and the year before that, corrective surgery for a hernia.
Don't remember any of these as "mild discomfort"!
All part of gettin' old but still better than the alternative......NOT gettin' old.

Lets see, recent tread topics: colonoscopy, WD 40, Roy Rogers Museum closing?, 8 gauge in Apaloosa..................and it's the middle of BR season.
Looks like were in for a lonnggg off-season.
Oh yeah, re: the thread topic ...been there done that 4X......I agree the prep is the worst. After each episode I grow an immediate dislike for anything cherry, lemon, lime, or orange flavored...they had better come up with new ones....thinking something along the lines of Jack Daniels:)

The problem is, Doug, they really don't do colonoscopys at North Texas Shooters Association. You might want to be careful when Dr. Tim gets his gasoline powered weed wacker going. I've heard too much of it can make you imagine strange things.

Actually, the Roy Rogers thread was one of the more enjoyable I've read. brought back lots of good memories.
The Colonoscopy thread is one which most of us can relate to!! Not a pleasant experience, but as some have posted here, a very good diagnostic tool.
I also had the needle biopsy on my prostate, and I can tell you, it was a pain in the a**, pun intended!!
Sometimes we have to laugh at the things that scare us!! definitely off topic, but fun threads!!

The only thing I hope is that while we have our laugh, no one skips the test when it is time.

I had one when I was 50. It was unpleasant enough that I put off the next one for 12 years, instead of the recommended 10 years. Oops. They found a precancerous spot. That's "precancerous" not in that it *might* become cancer, rather "isn't yet, but will be unless we take it out." Due to a scheduling hash, that was done with a sigmoidoscopy tool, no anesthetic. If you have a choice, don't do it that way. The full colonoscopy tool is much better at evacuating the air they have to pump in. And what the hell, take the VERSED if it's offered. Just make sure your wife has you cash & credit card for the rest of the day.

Even after the weed whacker machine I know I did not imagine how Mike Stinnet and several other shooters showed us how it was done. You heard the saying of "the lines are our friends" Well the flags and his gun were his......
Here is the kicker Mike never cleaned his 30 PPC all weekend long. It just kept driving them home. I watched one group thru the spotting scope as he was shooting. He is very in tune with his gun and when he is ready to put 5 shots down range, let me tell you they are GONE!. In those conditions we had in Denton you had to be quick. There was not a lot of hunt and peck...
