coated vs steel bushings

This takes me to a different question. Someone told me that Randy Robinett recommended a 0.324 bushing for a 0.330 neck 30BR. That seems what too much. Did I understand him correctly? I usually run under 0.001 or 0.002" on my 22 and 6 stuff.

What neck tension is needed for a 30BR?

I use a .323 for a 330 neck I ordered a .322 but have not tried it yet. 30 BR's like lots of neck tension.

Thanks

Dick,

Thanks. I may already be on track. Mine is a 0.332 neck and my rounds run 0.3305-0.3310". I have a 0.325 and 0.326 bushing, but I assume that was too much tension. Have run alot of round downrange, but it looked promising with the 0.326" bushing. I guess I need to just start putting lead down range to figure this stuff out.

Thanks again for the discussion from all,

Tiny

Besides having most 22 sizes, I have .285, .327, .3275, and .331. $26.50 ea. includes postage.These are carbide bushings.

Butch...

I didn't know you still had carbide bushings.

We gotta talk. I am currently doing a series of articles on the very best products that I have found for benchrest and if you still sell them, I will definitely include that in the article.

Butch...

I emailed you and haven't got a reply so far.

Should you have one left, I would like a .3275" bushing also.

I need your address to send the check.

Thanks,

Dick

Thanks Butch

Butch,

Glad you have one. Carbide bushings are far better than any others if for no better reason than it's easy for someone who knows what they are doing to grind a really smooth finish on the radius and I.D. where it counts.
