Cleaning the RF chamber

Folks,

Wanted to see just how all of you clean the chamber on a match 22 rf chamber. Toward the front of the chamber, I noticed a bit of carbon buildup. Have tried a 22 bronze brush but it doesn't seem to be getting that carbon out. A 22 bore brush may be too small in dia to do the job. Go up to a 6mm brush for the chamber cleaning?

Try some rem clean or other bore paste on a nylon brush so you can reverse directions in the area just in front of the chamber.

Bore paste on a tight patch works pretty good also. A short rod helps when cleaning the first 6 or 8 inches of one's barrel; easier to control, IMHO.

Have you tried cleaning the chamber of a 22 rimfire with a 6mm brush?

It would be interesting to watch ;)

Just take a couple patches with oil and run them through the barrel. Then take a patch of flitz and short stroke the chamber 25-35 times. Couple more oil matches and then a dry patch or two and should be good to go.

Bob mentioned the 6mm brush...............I wondered if he tryed to use one...........A worn 22 brush is usually snug.

For those that have lathes or access, take a 1/4 brass rod and turn diwn to the dia of your chamber, then cut grooves in the end. Put the rod into the chamber and twist.

Folks,

I tried the 6mm brush and that was a bust, too big. Had a worn 22 cal brush and worked that a bit at the throat also tried a patch with some RemClean on it and that seemed to work the best.

My borescope is showing some small specs of lead or carbon fouling right before the lands in the throat and that was what I was trying to remove.

The worn brush and patch with RemClean seemed to work the best. Thanks to all who replied.

Bob
