SGS cool and thanks...
Jackie I'm from Illinois and any kinda distance shooting is almost nonexistent here... sucks, but I wanna get into competing to some degree, so maybe I'll have to drive a bit to do it....
As others have said, find a match and go ask questions. It's not very likely that your existing equipment will be competitive in F-Class or long range BR. If you want to try short range BR with a factory rifle, UBR has a factory class. It's very, very unlikely your existing equipment will be competitive in short range outside of a factory class. Even then, it better shoot way better than a typical Remington.

Your factory rifle might be competitive in tactical matches. Not many on this site are into sniper matches. You might see if you can find that type match somewhat nearby. Not sure where in Illinois you are, or how far you're willing to drive but here's a big one coming up soon.

Keep in mind, the BR community is a small group of fairly tight knit people who know each other directly or indirectly. I've shot several disciplines and have never found a better group of people than you'll find here and at the matches. Your posts are like speaking in Greek to many in the BR community because, in part, your equipment is totally different than what's used in BR and so is the actual discipline that a setup such as yours might be competitive in.
If you'd said, " I have a 10.5 lb Panda in an old McMillan stock, chambered in 6PPC that I'd like to compete with near your part of Illinois," you'd have received much more and better replies on this site.
That said, shooting sports are a long, winding road. The equipment is usually dictated in large part, by the discipline. Many base their specific discipline on range proximity rather than equipment. Going to matches that are of different disciplines but within your acceptable travel range, will allow you to see what you like best and the equipment you're gonna need to be competitive in it.
Your question as posed to this site is much like telling a Nascar driver that you have a good running Ford Escort...now where can I go race with you.
