Bullet seating die.

This question is about a bullet seating die. I have always shot Hornady 52gr BTHP. But i recently am going to try Speer 52gr HP's. My question is, Does the bullet seating die seat the bullet based on the dimension of the bullet {.224}? or does it seat it based on the tip of the bullet? I reloaded the speer bullets and i didn't adjust the seating die. Will the bullet still be the same distance from the barrel lands?

In a proper bullet seating die, the thing that determines the seating depth is where the stem contacts the o-give of the bullet. (that is where it is supposed to hit, not the point).

If the Hornady and Speer have a different 0-give, then the seating depth in relation to the lands will be different.
Maybe not by much, but it will be different.........jackie
