Alright so i have a model 111 savage chambered in 30/06. I have been shooting 100 yards 200 yards and 400 yards. I have a range in my backyard and have access to a 1500 yard range through my back porch. Point is my stock rifle is more capable of shooting, it does 3/4 of moa with my handloads if i do right.
Heres my problem, PARRALAX is HORRID, what scope would you put on a stock rifle thats capable of 1/2MOA too 3/4 MOA. I am 19 years old and looking for a real cheap but quality that is a step up from my simmons scope.

There is no such thing :(

Folks sometimes get the odd "Budget" scope that works just fine but I think it rare. I have read in the past that a person should plan on spending as much on their scope as they do on the rifle it is going on.

Buy a scope from a company that has a lifetime warranty. In doing that, one can buy a slightly used scope at a saving and still have the Warranty.

Those tru glo scopes are nice but they seem scary the price seems low for a parralax adjustable scope. But if they are nice and work ill try them i can afford those rpices.

Right on....

I think the tried and true Weaver T36 will suit your needs perfectly.

You're exactly right. The Weaver T36 has been around for a long time and has proven itself through the years. One still sees a lot of them on any benchrest line and in the top twenty in Precision Shooting mag many times.

While not a true "budget" scope (less than $200), they are still reasonably priced at most vendors such as Natchez, Bruno's, and Sinclair International.

For a true "benchrest" quality scope, you can't go wrong with this one.

I am not promoting the TruGlo scopes but I have a friend that competes quite well with a 36 power. And as far as I know has had zero problems. Cost was $69.

If your loss could be limited to the $69 BUCKS, that would be fine. Quite
often you will dump many more dollars in components and time along with
wear on your gun only to find that some of those bad shots were the scope.
The problem is, it is very hard to recognize unless its really bad. The
warranty thing is a big issue. At least you don't lose everything.

A guy in NASCAR told me...................

There are three things that EVerbody wants in the game....
There is FAST,

There is GOOD,

There is CHEAP,
But you can only have two out of the three......

Take your pick of the two you want.......;):D

I guess this begs the question "how do you know if a cheap scope is misbehaving?". I have a Tru Glo 36X that I mainly use for my 22LR at 50 and 100, but I did put it on my F T/R .308 for about 50 rounds, just to see if it would hold up under the recoil. Nothing broke and I didn't notice a change in POA at 100 yards off the bench. However, 50 rounds isn't much of a test. I see the biggest difference when using the Tru Glo is the clarity/crispness of the target picture, especially in dim light (cloudy). At 100 yards this isn't much of a problem, but at 600 it is very much a problem. I have found that to shoot good scores at 600 yards, I need to see the X ring as sharp and bright as possible. I have heard stories of a cheap scope just falling apart under recoil after only a few shots, but I haven't heard anything bad about the Tru Glo. My guess is that most of the expense in making a top-of-the-line scope is in the glass quality, not the mechanics, but I don't really know. I am a 1/2 moa shooter at best, at 600 yards, so my $500 Nikon scope is probably all I need, but...., how would my scores be with a $1400 Night Force? Don't know, but I would rather buy a new rifle with the money.;)

I just listed a 6x24x50 #4 mil-dot new in box; you can't beat it for the price and the use you have described. Check it out on the classifieds here, Thanks; ART
