Bruce Baer

Frankly,i don't see where this post is going,If a guy has a problem with a fella he should take it up with him,not bash him on the internet(to which I can Guarantee Bruce don't give a crap about or even look at).I'm a small business fella and can attest to "can't make everybody happy",so obviously they will be the ones on the soap box yelling.Bruce has been in the business for a long time and most likley will have sucess even with the ones on this thread who are not satisfied, and the one who will never be happy.
He has done work for me and does a great job,and answers his phone(except during hunting season)he did work when he said but also took longer too, guess what, I'm still here and eveything is fine.
Also, I would guess if a guy would tick him off YOU Can Bet he won't return your calls or emails, its just Bruce.
These types of post really piss me off,why doesn't someone post something that can help shooters groups or how to read winds at 1000yds.

WOW! You must be the ONLY small business "fella" who has never been screwed over! All I am advising is GET STUFF IN WRITING NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE DEALING WITH. People get old and forget sh!t all the time. I've been to his shop twice, not that that counts for anything.

All good gunsmiths, and I count Bruce as one of the very few, are in the midst of the busiest time of the year. Everybody needs their work done NOW. Well answering the phone for you doesn't get your work or anybody else's work done in a more timely manner. Any work I have ever had Bruce do for me was of the highest quality. Bruce stands behind his work for quality and has always been there when ever I needed help.
I do not know of ANY stocker in the country that will get you a stock in a month. Most are a year away from delivery. Even the Richard's piece of crap has a 10 week wait.
Washing your "dirty laundry" on public does no one any good. Be a man and sort it out with Bruce man to man.

Ya'll (you'ns in PA) need to go re-read the thread and stop lumping everyone into one group. I have nothing on order with Baer and never will again; simply one.....of apparently many....who have not had the best of dealings. Remember the addage "one "oh sh!t" wipes out 100 atta-boys." I look at it like this: if someone wants to screw me over in a business transaction, it is their decision and right to do so, it then becomes my right to "recover" my loss in costing them future business.

I will disagree with you on the timing thing. I ordered a stock from one of the best stockers in the world and it was done in 3 weeks, well before what they quoted me. So yes, CUSTOMER SERVICE counts.

Since moving to another TOP-NOTCH 1000 Yard gunsmith, I have found my turnaround times on complete builds to be about half OR LESS than they were on my first two 1000 Yard guns. So yes, CUSTOMER SERVICE counts again.

By all means, continue the love-fest, just know not everyone is going to come to the party.

Not a love fest, but you seem to want us to join your hate fest because you have hurt feelings, they peed in your wheaties, gave you a wedgie or something.

You have a well documented history of taking every opportunity to jump on a couple people here on the internet instead of working it out with them.

If you feel so strongly about them that you cannot miss any opportunity to jump on them over the safety of the internet, why not "grow a pair" and arrange to meet both of them face to face and settle once and for all. Afterward you can kiss and make up or agree to keep it it private so we do not have listen to your insistent internet whining about them.

Now let it go or go work it out but pretty sure no one wants to hear anymore why you are always personally slighted and have hurt feelings.)chill(

Herman, I know who you are and what your handle is. Kindly ignore my posts or put me on your "sh!t list" so they don't show up. Either way I don't care. Last I knew this was a still a public forum where we can speak freely, good or bad. I don't give a crap if anyone joins anything, not forming a club for "wedgies" or any other purpose.

If you would care to go back and READ the entire thread, I was actually trying to explain why the gentleman may need to wait for his stock if Bruce did hurt himself as Bruce does the inletting but Gerry makes the stock blanks. Only then did everyone confuse me with the guy waiting for the stock so I had to clear that little piece up, sorry I had to explain it too bluntly for you or anyone else.

You know, I have as much propensity to tell people about good transactions as bad. I would share who I have had good dealings with here on the stock and recent builds, but neither are board sponsors, so I don't "advertise" for them on this board.

FWIW, Bruce and I have been to several matches together since our "issue" and we are able to go about our business of competing cordially. He knows where I stand and I know where he stands and we leave it at that. If anything needed said we've both had the chances. Good enough for you? Or do I still need to "grow" something?

Oh, here's some good news...I still use both the guns he built! There, that's something positive for the group hug!!!

As for the other party, nothing more needs said.

There is two sides to every story and i dont see bruce on here bashing you !!!

There are two sides too every case on Judge Judy as well and when the show starts they are without exception both claiming to be the most truthful people on planet earth. After about 3 minutes has passed one of them is always a big fat liar.

Anyone needing a competitive stock should just give Bill Shehane a call and be done with it.

I agree with lynn. I had trouble getting my 1st br stock from others and called Bill one day and he had what I wanted, in the color I wanted, in stock. I had it in 3 days and I had waited 22 weeks from the other vendor with another 6 to wait as of that day I placed my order with Bill.

Bruce

I shot for a couple of years and then decided that the travel schedule was too much with young children at home, so I stopped competing. I do like to stop by the site once in awhile just to keep up with things.

Bruce did most all of my work at that time, for about 3 years. Everything that he did took longer than he said it would. Often times it cost more too. This was the case time and time again.

That being said, when Bruce was finished I had two guns that were a thing of beauty. He built me a LG that shot the lights out and I won a whole bunch of matches with it (4 in 1 day, one time). He also built me an awesome HG that was in a caliber that he told me would not be competitive, but I wanted it anyway. That big 338 was a field day to shoot whether I won with it or not, most of the time the LG won enough to make up for it.

In addition to this, I probably asked him a thousand or so stupid questions and he answered them all.

Somethings are worth waiting for and Bruce's guns always were for me. I'm sure there are other good smiths out there, I know Clay is one of them. If I decided to compete again, I would want Bruce to build them.

Most folks have some amount of flaws and surely Bruce is no exception, he does build an awesome gun though.
