Bottle Bomb warning

Many years ago a friend of mine that lived in Freeport ,Texas had a 10 year old son who was playing in the front yard of his home and found a glass throw away full bottle of beer. He picked it up and it exploded and sent a 2 inch sliver of glass into the white part his eye. He had to hold his son's eyelid off of the piece until they got him to a Dr. in Houston to remove it. In the hot sun these bottles are very dangerous. He was very lucky and did not lose the sight in that eye.
 
This warning not to immediately touch discarded plastic / glass bottles in your yard is true. I had seen this before in an email to me, and have been very cautious since learning about the prank.
