Bolt condition

Hi, a few of you would have guessed, im not very experienced. Anyway i have an old k98 that is in magnificent condition (something i bought on a whim for a considerable sum about 2 years ago) Anyway it really only has its typical armoury dints with full matching numbers.

Someone looked at the rifle once & said it appeared unfired. I don't think its unfired as that circular mark say it has had a bit of use. Am i correct ?

It could be an arsenal reconditioned rifle. The bolt looks new but it could have been refinished or replaced.
There are still a lot of mauser parts for sale. It is what it is, enjoy it.

What Gerry said would be my best guess. Most of the Mausers sold by that big Warehouse, (seems they find more all the time), are post war reconditioned pieces. That mark indicates that something, if not a case, maybe a heaspace gage, was chambered at one time.
But, all are perfectly servicable Rifles. Shoot it, and enjoy it........jackie

Thanks, sorry i didn't mention, its portuguese version & one that wasn't used. If its unfired i didn't want to use it as i have 2 other variants of 8mm to use. Im just over taking it out & looking at it only to put it away again so advice heeded & ill give it a try.

Judging only by that boltface I'd have no trouble believing this rifle to be in "unfired" condition.
