Bluing question

What can be used to mask areas that you don't want blued? Specifically I want the interior of the receiver and barrel lugs to remain in the white like original on my Browning trap gun and would also like to do bolts similar to Remingtons with the main body polished/jeweled while the lugs and handle are blued.
 
I've watched a friend who used to blue on a regular basis mask off bolts with black electricians tape. He uses several wraps and wraps them tight to start, not so tight when ending the wrap.

In gunsmithing school we did the bolt just as troll described. If I wanted to leave the interior of the receiver in the white, I would probably rust blue, and be careful not to get any of the bluing solution on those areas.
