Very tough conditions . Snow at the start of the match. Here's the IR50/50Unlimited and the air rifle results. Wind was blowing about 20 mph and the temp was about 31 degrees. the Chile and hot dogs were a welcome relief.

Sounds like those conditions were more what we would expect to have. Congratulations on making it happen, and I'm sure most of those scores will be the first to go once you reach your 13th target and beyond.

Ron, I gotta ask: 134 with 0 x's. What happenned? Did your scope fall off?

Match report with a few more details

The weather was rough to say the least. I got to the range at 0530 and it was about 35 degrees with a light misty rain. By 0700 the temp had dropped to 31 degrees and the mist became snow.
By about 0800 the snow had stopped and the wind started picking up. The clouds starting breaking up and the sun begin to peek through the clouds. Did I mention that the wind started picking up. Well by noon we were up to 39 degrees and the wind was blowing 20 mph.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Thank God that we shot IR50-50 in the morning. We broke for lunch and to score all the targets then moved on to Air rifle. Mark Stillwell brought a brand new Gamo Springer to the match and needed to zero in his rifle before we started the match, It turned out that it would not shoot very well at all and we all figured that the scope was bad. I ran over to the shop and got an older model redfield 4x12 that I use to check other scopes and sure enough confirm that his scope is in fact good but the Gamo had a problem. It would shoot 3 or 4 pellets in a small group then throw one out 10 inches from the group. Mark decided to leave the springer in the truck and we moved on to Match and Unlimited shooting.

Needless to say with the wind blowing like the devil, It looked as if we were going to be in for a tough afternoon trying to shoot any scores worth reporting but we got after it pretty hard.

Highlights of the Match include Ron Williams shooting my match rifle in the 2nd match scoring 230, enough to beat the old match rifle record score and Mark Stillwell winning target #3 in Match rifle with a 218.

I managed to shoot two good targets, winning the Match1 with a 242 -1X and Match 2 with a 239- 5X (new records)but had my trigger froze up either from a piece of trash in my air system or moisture and I ran out of time with 10 targets left unfired on my target.

Overall winner of the Match rifle Class was Ron Williams with a 642. Great shooting in such a rough weather condition. With Mark in 2nd place and me bringing up the rear.

Unlimited also provided quite the challenge, I struggled on the first target and shot the low score of 228, with Ron Williams taking the win with a 235-1X then Mark Stillwell figures out some condition and wins the 2nd target with a 245-4X. Finally on the 3rd target I figure out a little condition that I could shoot and manage to hammer out a 247-1X.( new record score) I dropped all three shots on the last row of targets as my condition when to crap and never came back.

Overall winner of the Unlimited class was Mark Stillwell with a 717-9X., Ron Williams in 2nd place and again, I came in last.

Surely next month's match conditions will be better than this event. We all had fun and are looking forward to shooting again.

Hopefully, Ron W. will post some of the pictures this afternoon.

Ron, great shooting despite the weather. You gentlemen are a tough bunch, I don't think I could function at that temperature. The scores continue to climb, and feel there will be a lot of 250's shot this year, it will come down to the X count. It's going to be an exciting year.

I agree with Joe, great shooting in "awful" conditions and again you guys are tough...for shooting for "score" and counting "X's" will .22 match rifles have the advantage...John
