After looking at the responses from the Match Directors, this seems to be the favoured format for all five BIPM matches for 2014

Air Rifle
25yd/m indoor – no limit on power
25yd/m outdoor – maximum 20ft/lb (27/J)

Rimfire
25yd/m outdoor
50yd/m outdoor

The schedule of competitions are as follows:

Jan/Feb
Mar/Apr
May/Jun
Jul/Aug
Sep/Oct

Scores may be entered from any nominated match during the relevant period i.e. scores from Jan/Feb to be with me by the 28th February etc.

Once the scores from the second match have been submitted I will produce a ranking list which will continue with each submitted score until October 31st after which a final ranking will be produced.

That’s it, thanks for everyone’s input, have a great Xmas.

Brian,

Thank you for taking the helm and running these again. Being an IHMSA match director, I know the hours you spend tabulating, communicating, and keeping the restrooms clean. (Just kidding about the toilets.) :D

You are greatly appreciated!

Merry Christmas!

Steve W.

Brian,

All looks great to me, and as you know, we at Pinnacle Mountain will do our part at contributing.

Thank you Brian!

Brian,
Holbrook will be running indoor Airgun matches. Will try to get someone to run the match for July/Aug as I spend the summers in Maine. Will get Capitol City, Angletree, Easthampton for the Rimfire matches.

Holbrook/ myself will gladly pick up the cost of trophies for one of the matches.

Thanks again for all your work with the BIPM.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Healthy New Year!

Paul

Thanks Paul, a very kind offer.

Best wishes to you and your family over the coming holidays.

Hello.....I am trying to get some 25m targets for this event. The email for the US contact (Paul Bendix) on the BIPM website does not seem to work. Should I just have some printed?

If so, what is the best type of paper to use?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Sorry that’s my fault, Paul had his email account hacked a little while ago, I think this is his current address: paulbendix at icloud.com (please substitute the “at” for @) – If not I’m sure Paul will be along in a little while.

I’ll update the website ASAP.

Mike,
How many targets do you need? Email me your shipping address and I will send you some.

What state are you from?

Happy 2014

Paul, sent you email

Paul,
I sent you an e-mail at 8:30am, Sat., Jan. 4th.
I could not tell whether it went or not. I'm not very savvy on the computer, ha.

Hi Brian, Is it club choice for outside distance, yards or meters?

Hi Brian, Is it club choice for outside distance, yards or meters?
Mike

It is Mike (for indoors as well). I appreciate there is a small difference between the two, but for international matches it just gets too complicated to do otherwise.

I’m away for a week or so for a short holiday (Hola), when I get back I’ll put a few guidelines up on the BIPM website (I’ve always tried to keep these to a minimum), nothing untoward, just to clear up questions such as yours, where the BIPM stands regarding electronic scoring etc.

Update

Please accept my apologies, holidays, work and a computer quitting on me have put me a little behind.

To recap, this will be the schedule of BIPM Postal Matches for 2014:

Air Rifle
25yd/m indoor – no limit on power
25yd/m outdoor – maximum 20ft/lb (27/J)

Rimfire
25yd/m outdoor
50yd/m outdoor

There are five competition periods as follows:

Jan/Feb
Mar/Apr
May/Jun
Jul/Aug
Sep/Oct

Scores may be entered from any nominated match during the relevant period i.e. scores from Jan/Feb to be with me by the 28th February etc.

Once the scores from the second match have been submitted I will produce a ranking list which will continue with each submitted score until October 31st after which a final ranking will be produced.

Each match is to consist of 3 x BIPM/World targets ( http://www.benchpostal.com/targets.html ) shot at the applicable distance (either yards or meters).

Electronic scoring can be used, provided the hardware/software is capable of scoring the official targets to the satisfaction of the match director. Scoring manually will be with the use of a .224” plug.

I should have the above information and the updates on the BIPM website http://www.benchpostal.com/index.html in the next day or so.

Extension

I have given an extension to the January/February BIPM postal competition to one of the Nordic countries who were hoping to shoot there competition cards this week, but have had to delay it until Sunday March 2nd.

If anyone else wishes to make use of this extra time please have the scores with me by 7:00pm GMT on Sunday March 2nd latest.
