Benchrest scope

Let's have a little fun.

If you had your wish of the perfect Benchrest scope, what would it have.

What would the reticle look like?

What power would it be?

1", 30mm, 35mm tube?

Objective lens size?

Parallax set for 25 or 50 yards?

Side focus?

1/4" or 1/8" adjustment? MOA or Mil?

Lets say is has the clarity of a nice USA scope.

Of course, it would have to be "Made in the USA".

Gordon,

Your last point really messes me up.

Look at the March 40X or 50X, fixed power.

Magnification, spectacular glass, 30mm tube, focuses to 10m, 1/8 MOA adjustments, side focus and 1/8, 3/32 or 1/16 dot reticle, just not made in the USA.

Costs more than my USFT, too.

I've seen March products; very nice but too expensive for most and not made in the US.

Not that I am going forward with this just yet, but I've been talking to a US scope manufacture about making a run of custom made scopes specifically designed for our purpose. If I were to move forward with a small run of scopes, manufacturing outside the US is not an option.

New scope

Let's have a little fun.

If you had your wish of the perfect Benchrest scope, what would it have.

What would the reticle look like? 3/32 dot

What power would it be? 40x

1", 30mm, 35mm tube? 30mm

Objective lens size? 42

Parallax set for 25 or 50 yards? down to 15yds.

Side focus? side parallax adjustment

1/4" or 1/8" adjustment? MOA or Mil? 1/8th MOA

Lets say is has the clarity of a nice USA scope. Nightforce

Of course, it would have to be "Made in the USA".

Two things I think are important Under $,1000
under 20 oz.

Fine cross hair dot. 1/8 or 1/16 dot
No less than 45-50x
30mm tube
Objective could be 42mm to 52mm.
Front lockable AO
1/8 MOA clicks.
Clarity is very important.
Made is USA is very important.
Being able to make weight with it is very important.

For benchrest shooting we need one more thing. It must hold absolute POA shot to shot. A very hard thing to do for any scope with internal adjustments. Holding absolute POA shot to shot is why March scopes and external adjustment scopes are being made.

Keep us updated!

20 oz. 45X adjustments that are rock solid, don't care about side focus, conventional American fine thread eyepiece focus, with lock ring, $1,000 or less. 1" OK, rugged main tube, erector pivot external lock and turret spring lock out

Burris, Leupold and Nightforce claim to be American made scopes. One of them may respond favorably, but I doubt they would be interested in a small run. Nevertheless, for me 40X would be max, (for 25M, probably way overkill) weigh less than 2 lbs, have a very fine crosshair with a tiny dot that could barely be seen, 1/16 click adjustment and available in either black or silver.
