Benchrest Scope Question

Hello all, I'm returning to Benchrest 100,200,300 after a 12-14 yr layoff. Man how things have changed. I've decided to buy a new scope and decided on a March, just not sure which power. I would like to hear from those who have been shooting with one. I'm intrigued by the 60X idea but have been reading some here say it's to much power? I didn't think I'd hear the day people would say that. My last scope was a Leupold 45X Done by Ackerman? I believe, any way I really liked it over the Std. 36X power offered at that time. I would like to hear your thoughts and appreciate any advice you can share on this subject. Thank you.

OK...I used a 45x Leupold for a while, and I had Alan Tucker (at Leupold) fit a 1/16th dot to it. It is a fine scope and now sits on my IRB custom class rimfire.
For CF BR I use a March 40x with a 3/32nd dot. We get a lot of mirage in Australia and higher powers can make you struggle a bit.
I also have a 36-55 March and found that most of the time I had it set around 48x - depending upon the mirage of course.

At the end of the day it comes down to what is good for you.
I do believe that having a fixed 60x may turn out to be a hindrance over a whole season.

B J Thank you for your input, I appreciate it. It's been so long I had forgotten how to navigate here, but I have since did a search and found several good references on the subject. I've never shot a March, but I'm looking forward to getting one and giving it a try. Thanks again and have a great day/weekend.

You may want to look at the March 10X-60X. I have one on loan from Jim Kelbly and it is a superb scope. It features MOA reticle and 10 MOA per revolution of elevation and a "zero stop". The optics are superb. Here it is on my 600 yard rifle ...a 6mm Dasher. James
