I have it on good authority that black powder shooters have been known to employ used beer.

Some silencers require that the insides be wet for maximum sound suppression. I've seen it said that snipers using suppressors sometimes used urine to wet the baffles, water being too precious to waste when the sniper has to remain hidden for days at a time.
