Can anyone tell me who might have made a 12 groove barrel? I bought an older 700 Rem with a 20 inch stainless after market heavy barrel on it. There are no markings on the barrel to indicate who made it.
Like Dennis said, Marlin marketed a "micro-groove" for years.
Aside from them, Shilen has made some really nice 8 groove barrels from time to time. When you look through one, you would swear it had 12 or more grooves in it..........jackie
This barrel is in 6MM BR and is .915 at the muzzle. A friend has a Sako .243 that has a 12 grouve barrel but we don't know if it is a factory or aftermarket. I knew about the Marlin barrels but didn't think they made target style barrels.
Around 1970-1980's all Sako barrels were "micro" grooved. I suspect that Marlin had some Sako barrels as their .222 rifles were done on Sako actions and barrels.
