Barrel heat management

I have fire forming and load testing in front of me.
In past testing I get impatient and the barrel can get pretty warm.
What pacing guide do you use to keep the heat in check, such as number of rounds in string and rest/cool time between strings; or some other format?
I don't want to harm a new barrel (30BR).

You won't harm the barrel by heating it up shooting it up to 20 or more times in 20 minutes. Many of those in matches shoot 20 or more shots in 10 minutes.

I m told there use to be a fellow who shot 30 cal HBR rifles with two timers, one for 1 minute intervils and one for the total match time. He shot the rifle every minute regardless of the condition. He was reputed to be good enough to shoot in any condition; an Urban Legend perhaps.

You might have better luck with this on one of the CF forums
