I am checking on LV and HV barrel dimensions for centrefire benchrest, I can see the Heavy is max at 5 inches 1.250 shank and then tapers to .900 inches at the 29 inch mark is the light max at 3 inches 1.250 and then tapers to .900 inch at the 29 inch mark, I can not find the LV specs, could someone let me know where to find this information, Thankyou.

Both a LV and a HV RIFLE share the same max bbl dimensions. The problem is weight. You'll be more than hard pressed to make LV weight limits with a HV bbl.

Our specs are--
#9 Heavy Varmint, 1.250" x 5", then straight taper to .900" at 28" finish, 29" blank
#8 Light Varmint, 1.200" x 5", then straight taper to .875" at 28" finish, 29" blank
#16 Bukys Taper is 1.225" x 3", then straight taper to .850" at 26" finish, 27" blank

Mark t,

Mark B. didn't mention the Hunter Class barrel dimensions, which Bartlein barrels makes,
1.25" for 4" tapering to .75" at 26" A great alternative if you have a big weight problem.
Can't remember Bartlein's # for the contour.

Comparing by weight, the Hunter contour makes a lighter and stiffer (less muzzle deflection) barrel that does a traditional LV contour . . . or, for the velocity junkies, a longer barrel of the same weight. o_O One of 'the dirty little secrets' regarding the GREAT precision of Hunter Class rifles.
;) A very flexible contour: 1.250"x 5" shank, with Hunter taper ahead of the cylinder . . . simply cut and fit to suit weight/desire(s). RG
