At a loss

it looks like a bushing, but it looks like a fat end, not as fat as the receiver, on the barrel too. What's the barrel O.D.'s, the fat part and the straight part to the muzzle? Thanks, Douglas

It looks like a 40X custom recoil lug to me. They're usually bigger and you can mill them to fit.

Anyone need another

Wanted to thank Dan for helping my Dad out . If any one needs another one He has one more he' s kicked around about selling it as well. These are very good rifles he is just going in other directions. David K

David K, tell your Dad that I can tell that he took excellent care of this rifle, and that I will do the same. I've not changed one adjustment. Now, the fact that it is somewhat like I just took delivery of a full NASCAR still has my attention:cool:

good catch Beau, I never thought of that possibility. What caught my attention on the photo is one of Bill's articles about building a 40X is he fabricated a bushing that went directly into the 40X's fat receiver and then used a straight barrel. The bushing allows truing up the bolt raceway with the threads in the receiver. This particular rifle must be a pre-bushing calfee. Thanks, douglas
