I own a leupold 40x competition scope. I have been happy with it. I have heard so many different things like, they have poi shift, they go away after 600 rounds of recoil ect. ect..I would like to know what is wrong with them. anyone?
 
Don't know what others say, but....

saw plenty of the Leupolds on the line at this last week ends match at the Deitz range. Plenty of the Competition series along with a few of the older 36 BR's. Some March scopes as well along with a few Weaver 36's.

It is a quality scope. It is guaranteed. If you have a problem send it back they will fix it.
Now go enjoy your fine scope.

I dont think i have a problem with mine. unless the few low .100 groups i have shot with it would have been zero's . I dont know.
no i'm just asking because i have heard it a few times, even may have read it some where. I Have been reading old threads to try and find any information.
I'm thinking about purchasing another one. Just wanted to know if there is a known problem i should be aware of. after all i have seen a few frozen. ect ect.
Is it something that has been remedied? should i try and save up and put my money into a different scope.

I am asking because i dont know and seems all you get is here say and no fact's..surely somebody knows.

Torx Screws in Knobs

I have a 45X Leupold Competition that I like a lot. I have not detected any POI shift. However, the mechanism for setting the knobs to zero after you have it adjusted is problematic and has been discussed here before. I could not get the knobs to release and wasted time and ammo trying to figure it out. Others have noted that problem here. Some just use colored paint dots to mark zero and that's what I am going to do when the season cranks up again up here in VT.

I too had the small problem of the knobs not releasing when wanting to set the knobs to zero.
Before going to the range loosen the torx holding screw a couple of turns, push down on the knob gently exposing a little space between the screw head and the chamfer in the knob top. Put a little grease in that area an rotate the knob to smear the grease under the screw head.
Now retighten the screws but just tighten a little bit. They do not need a lot of torque to keep them tight.
Now go to the range and sight in and then loosen the screws couple turns push down slightly and put your knob on the zero line, retighten. For the money involved I would choose a 45x- 45 Leupold every time---Remember
