Anyone working on Weaver T series now?

I put a T-36 Weaver on a LV rimfire to shoot ARA. Took it to our barn to get on paper. The cross hairs are so small now I can hardly see them. I have three T-36 and all have that super fine crosshair. Where can I get them worked on?

Jerry, I don't know anyone working on them, but if you put a magnifier on the eyepiece, it will increase the reticle size plus boost magnification.

If you want a little do it yourself project, the reticle is pretty easy to access in the T-36. I put some glass reticles in some about 10 years ago, I got the reticles from Klarmann Rulings, a company that specializes in etched glass reticles. They were advertised as .0003 lines. I chucked the reticle Carrier up and bored it to fit the reticle, which I think was 13/16 OD. Worked great.

Some time back, I found that closeup lenses that were designed to screw onto the front of 35mm camera lenses work just like the much more expensive BullZeyePro booster lenses, for a lot less money. I have a couple of +2 diopter that have a 37mm thread that I believe is too large for your Weavers, but it would be really easy to make a slip on adapter. They fit the eyepiece threads of my 36X Bausch and Lomb scopes. I found a couple of leather cased three lens sets that were NOS on Ebay for about $20 each. The ones that I use give me about a 20% boost in magnification and magnify the entire field of view, including the cross hairs. The angle of view is unchanged. My sets came with +3 lenses but because of my vision with glasses I cannot screw the eyepieces far enough forward to properly focus the eyepiece(I run out of threads.). With the lenses that I use I lose about a half inch of eye relief. Comparing the sharpness with and without it is better with. I would not have expected that. Mine are Tiffen brand. I gave one of my +3 lenses who was able to use it on a 36X Leupold. I think that that was because his vision is such that without the lend his eyepiece had more threads available to screw the eyepiece forward.

The link that I gave you goes to a page that says that they do reticle changes for late model Weaver Ts. The work is done by Bill Ackerman's daughter.

Boyd, here is a slip on booster I made for my 8x32 NXS Nightforce. I got the lens from a local Optometrist, Texas State Optical. It's a +3.25 lens.

Cool. Some of us have lathes, some of us don't. The friend that I gave the +3 to used a modified flip up lens cap to hold his to his Leupold. He cut the hinge off of the part that slips over the eyepiece. Another made a delrin slip on adapter. Every one that has one likes it.

Thanks guys. Looks like the link Boyd posted for the old Bill Akerman shop is still in business and can do the job. The lines on these scopes now is probably 0.002 , I need about 0.005" min now to see the lines.

I use 3x optical boosters now on my LCS 45 scopes. Helps some. It is now most of my detail vision is about gone.

Note.. looks like we just got out of St Louis in time. The welfare jerks are still destroying working folks property.

If you are installing a magnifier on the diopter why wouldn't a pair of Wally World readers in your bifocal prescription work as well ? is this a stupid ?????????????

Thanks

Let me answer your question with a question. Does your reading prescription magnify the image between 20 (w/+2)and 30(w/+3) percent? Mine doesn't. What my friends and I did works just like having a scope with higher magnification, with the +2 that I use I calculate that my 36x becomes something like 43X. Friends who were shooting 45X Leupolds said that the magnification looked very much like that of their scopes. There is one advantage, the angle of view is not made smaller, and one disadvantage, you loose some eye relief. Along with everything else in the field of view, the crosshairs become 20% coarser. Having said that, give the Wally world glasses a try and spend some extended shooting time testing them. Let us know what your experience is.

I'm OK for now. I had an extra LCS 45 still in the box. Digging through my scope ring collection I found a 30mm ring set for US/American dovetails. I milled the front step on these rings dovetail down to where they will clamp onto the 11mm dovetail on my Anschutz rimfire action. Its a Bill Myers modified action that has a rare Jewel trigger and adjustable headspace so I didn't want to loose it.

Thanks, all.

The lens has to be extremely close to the ocular lens of the eyepiece.

The one on in the picture on my long range Rifle makes the 32x about 40x.
