any quick fixes to removing a torn case neck from a chamber? One of my 30BR cases decided to retire itself and the case neck is stuck int he chamber. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Run a tight fitting 30cal brush up into the neck, then just pull it out. The stuck neck should come with it.

Causation perhaps:

It only took me about 5 years to learn that this situation may be caused by the sizing bushing in one's die. The bushing must float a few thou so that it won't bottom out onthe shoulder of the case. A thin washer or small O ring will cure this problem.

IMHO, Tight fitting brushes, cleaning rods, bent picks, sticks or anything you can stuff in the chamber isn't the proper way to get the job done. It only takes one slip to gouge the chamber. Get yourself a "broken case extractor" in the proper caliber and do it right. Get one in every caliber you shoot, stuff them in your range bag and don't go shooting without them.
Saved my bacon on more than one occasion.

If you gouge the chamber with a bore cleaning brush you are trying way to hard, a brush on a cleaning rod works just fine. :)

I'll give a try in the morning. Had a Highpower match this weekend and was a bit busy.

Place a patch a little ahead of the torn case neck then pour in just a tad of cerrosafe and you can push it right back out.

I never had any luck using a tight patch or brush in the past.

Sorry I haven't updated this. A 30 cal broken case extractor worked. I put some oil down the bore and let it soak over the weekend and used the broken shell extractor. Since the extractor was for a 308, I used the bolt to get it into the chamber and a gentle tap on the end of my cleaning rod to remove it.
