The next Airgun Benchrest Match at Capitol City R&P in Augusta, Maine will be on July 14 at 10:00. We will run a 6 Card, Two Match Format. Bring whya got and shoot with us. I have an extra LV rifle and Paul has one or two as well, if you don't have a gun and would like to try shooting.

We won't be serving lunch but there is a nice Delli less than a mile away.

Pete, great work on getting things together.

As Steve and I have often said as we have both been there, Maine in the fall, Brown trout fishing, blueberry pie and lobster would be as close to nervana as one could get.

Thanks for promoting our sport.

There is a compelling reason why many of the Major Corporations keep Summer"Cottages" in the Bar Harbor area as well as other Coastal Hot Spots and why John Travolta and others have a place in Islesboro; Nirvana may fit in there somewhere also.

For you fisherman, Western Maine has some of, if not the very best Wild Brook Trout fishing on the Continent now with 7 pounders reported on Rapid River every year for a few years now. I witnessed one having been cought a few years ago. Catch & Release is the only way to assure a great Brook Trout Fishery and that has been practiced in Western Maien for quite a long time now. Perhaps we will get back to the Carrie Stevens days sometime in the future :)

Well, we got er done! A 94* day in Disgusta today but the TWO of us prevailed and the results are as follows:

Match 1.

Paul Bendix: 240-2, 246-3, 246-9 = 732-14
Pete Wass: 245-3. 243-7, 249-10 = 735-19

Match 2.

Paul Bendix: 244-8, 243-7, 244-10 = 731-25
Pete Wass: 245-3, 243-8, 243-9 = 731-20

Paul shot HV and Pete shot LV in both matches. This will likely be the last match at this venue until there is more interest shown by competitors. Great facility and range, not much interest in Airguns.

Pete,
Looks like that EV-2 is still shooting pretty good!
It's too bad there isn't much interest in AGBR at your club. I always enjoyed shooting RF BR there! If there's a chance we can spend some time at Capital City shooting between 7/21-29 let me know and I'll pack my gear for vacation. I could use some more bench time with the new build before the East Coast Reg!!!

Todd, I have plenty of air

Pete and Paul,
Whatever time works for you guys, as long as I don't have to get up to early! I'll be on vacation:D I'll probably bring my Open class Dawson, only because the one piece rest is easier to pack. I'll take you up on the air to save me lugging my 135cuft steel tank!

How about 10:00 AM?

Works for me! Might have another shooter with me, too. Paul, you remember Roody? He shot at Easthampton a couple of times. Won't be too hard to talk him into a little bench time!

Pete,
Can you bring a spare front rest? If not will try to borrow one from Gary also a rear bag.

Todd, Does the Dawson need any special fill probe?

Yes, the EV 2, in the right hands, is still shooting pretty well. If I could only learn to be patient !!!!!!!!! Let's see - - - Wax on - - - Wax Off - ? is that how it goes?

That's the hardest part about going from RF to Air, Pete. Those shots with the RF when you say to yourself "I'm pretty sure I can at least nick the 10 ring in this condition" and you do....those are sure misses with the Air Rifle!!!

I'll try to fit both my rests in with the camping gear, the Dawson just has a foster fitting on it, and as long as Pyramyd delivers my pellets before Fri. morning, I should be all set. Looking forward to shooting with you guys!
