I received my 220 beggs reamer today, I lnspected the barrel that arrived this week. I was going to push a 22cal lead pellet thru to check for smallest point in the muzzle area, my question is , the 60 degree centers at the ends of the barrel look like they spun on the center instead of turning with center, there is a ridge pushed inside the barrel on each end that catches the 22 cal pellet and catches the cleaning patch as well. the rifling looks ok inside the barrel,
It is a cut rifling barrel , the barrel must be tapered aftering rifling?.

If you have the same thing on your barrels and a normal condition ok.
It is a medium wt

I have bought and chambered 10 barrels in the past but the first one that had such rough ends even though it will clean up when cutting to length.

thanks for your input.

Don't know...

I've heard tell that a plug is driven into the ends for heat treating and needs to be cut off.

What Kind Of Barrel??

I check barrels with Deltronic pins, and have never seen the phenomina you are describing.
Why not just cut about 1/4 inch from each end and remove the ridge??......jackie

Thanks Gentelmen

Jackie: Its a kreiger, not a complaint against the company, just havent seen a barrel with the centers looked blackish like run hot and pushed into the ends.

I will go ahead and trim to length and check some more.
