Action question

I was looking at lawton's web site at there 7500 dual port actions and in the description it states (right or left hand dual ports and dasher) I dont think i know what it means when they say and dasher. Can someone please explain. I am thinking that it means the size of the ejection port but i am not sure. these look like pretty nice actions. I saw one over the weekend and i was impressed. What the general thought on these? Thank you guys!! Lee

Lee;
They might offer a longer port to allow a loaded Dasher case to be unloaded through the port. Strictly a guess...

if you contact them at Phone 406-683-2388

you could probably get a reliable answer to your "Dasher" question.

As to general thought on the actions since you have not gotten any opinions in over 24 hours since you posted your original question you might peruse the equipment list on match reports. I just looked through about 8 sets of results and saw Lawtons in 5 of the sets so I would say obviously a few people like them. I did not notice where they finished in the pile which might be the next detail worth checking.

The Lawton looks like a quality piece, perhaps they have never catered to the "Point Blank" crowd. I have never seen one on the firing line.

For years, there was not that big of a choice for an action, now, with the advent of CAM-CAD Machining, there seems to be a wealth of choices.

I have been shooting Benchrest since 1995, and this is the first time I have went to their web site. I bet there is a multitude of shooters exactly like me.........jackie

Maybe not spending the extra 500.00 bucks scare people off for their actions?

Lee,
I have a 7500 Dasher action. Dasher just means that it has a shorter eject port. I really don't know why Barney designated a special Dasher type other than he shot a lot at Missoula 1000yd range and the Dasher is a very popular cartridge there.

Mine no longer has the short eject port as I had it opened up just enough to eject a SAUM case so I guess you wouldn't call it a Dasher action anymore.

By the way I really like my Lawton action.

The action if i buy one will cost right at 1000 bucks. Stiller is also coming out with a dual port action here in a couple weeks. Dave Kiff really seems to think that the stiller offeres the most features for the money. Im not sure what i will do. I wish i could afford a BAT but i cant, at least not if i want to shoot my 30BR this year. Decisions decisions!! Thanks fellas as always!!! Lee
