accurizing 700 action

The G33/40 mauser had this cut done at the factory. If you look at the LH side of the receiver you will see a scallop cut just below and along side of the loading port. On the RH side you will see a cut to allow a long loaded round to be ejected.
Mostly cosmetic.

Butch, how do you measure the Rem 700

action for the proper bolt fit?

I want to get one of the Pacific bolts for my Rem, but not sure how to properly measure the action ID.

Roy

P.S.: I hope you're not going to say, "get .694 thru.705 pins. Can't afford that.

Roy,
Mike Bryant reamed the raceways in mine and I ordered a bolt that was .001 under the reamed size. Lynn, if you will read my post you will see that I ordered a bolt with all the mods that you recommended. Did,'t need to do it.

Okay here's what I have a Remington 700 left hand action and a stock on the way to fit it. Is there any custom actions out there that would fit in this stock like my action is going to.

Here is the left handed action you want.

I didn't see any mention of a coned bolt in your post but I could have missed it.Its a free upgrade when ordering a new bolt so I include it in my builds.

Roy
Most of the gunsmiths working on the 700 Remingtons are using PPG or Gre-Tan Tooling meaning your action will be reamed to 0.705 inches. You then order up a 0.704 bolt body and your all set.The cost of double sleeving a Remington bolt runs $125 and you can buy a bolt from PPG for the same amount so its a no brainer to me.The sleeves tend to go away slightly with time and you don't see that with a new bolt body.
