I had a thought the other day -- about an interesting format for club-level matches. The only additional requirement would be for an evil-minded rangemaster.
It will work for group or score. The only difference over a regular match is you have to fire when the rangemaster tells you to -- he/she picks the time everybody has to shoot. You get seven seconds after the "fire" command to get your shot off, or you're disqualified. you can only shoot once with each "fire" command.
The more evil-minded the rangemaster, the more conditions you'll have to shoot in. My guess is the best shooters will still win, but at first, the margin of their wins will be much higher. But I'd guess that after a while, the rest of us will be shooting a lot better.
