Well I picked up 1200 rds of 7BR 1x fired brass along with a T/C Encore BBL last week at auction. The T/C will be used for deer but I'll only use a 100 or so brass for that.The big question is what rifle prodject do I use the rest of the brass for ? Do I reform it and neck it up to 30BR for VFS or down to 6.5 or 6 BR for farther out ? Or leave it as a 7 BR ? I need a plan for the coming year and I must confess I don't no which way to go :eek:. Thoughts apreciated.
 
Man, I'd hate to be in your shoes. I am completely fascinated by all of the BR and PPC chamberings. I lust over the less popular ones as I've always been a man who roots for the underdog. I believe it's through experimentation that we find the next "hot" number. I don't know art, but I'd say go with your guts and just do it.

You have some options

Just using the 7 BR would make a fine hunting rifle. When the 30 BR will deliver a 125g bullet @ 3000 fps or so, it is pretty hard to beat.

Personally, I have always liked 7 MM hunting rifles a bunch. I typically shoot 120g Ballistic Tip bullets in my Deer rifle and I qm guessing the 7 BR should pretty much duplicate the 30 BR's performance.

A down side may be feeding in a repeater. The 7 MM should make a great BR rifle if only there was a reliable supply of quality bullets available. I would love to be using one.

The cases obviously can be necked up and will work just fine as .30's
 
Only the T/C will be used for hunting. I have 2 actions ,a 40X and Wichita. I'm looking for ideas for a bench rifle short or long range doesn't matter which.
 
I have been using some Sierra 70 grain Blitz for fire forming 6ppc cases lately. Surprisingly some of them shoot really good. I think if one sorted them on a Juenke machine you might find some some 7mm that would shoot. Fire forming the other day I had 3 shots of the Sierra 70's go into .172. Later I shot a 5 shot group with them. Three went into one hole the other two were out about 1/4 to 3/8 inch. Next 5 shot group of BR bullets went into a low .2xx. Don't know why Sierra will not package bullets from one machine and just do lot numbers. They have the ability to make very good bullets and do but mix from one machine to another. A quick & dirty way

to sort is to use one of them SInclair Nuts and a caliper. The biggest problem probably is the position of the ogive surface on the bullet and not the stability. I agre with you on keeping the bullets from each machine segregated at the factory. It should be easy enough for them to do and all would benefit.

- Core seating, core seating, core seating...............

- Consistency, consistency, consistency.................

The most consistent proceedures, if used with sub par jackets and improper core seating methods, will still give consistently bad results.

Re: my post. I shot all of them jammed hard into the lands. No ogive problems there.
