Besides headspace and stock mods at the handle can the bolts from a remington long action 700 and 721 be interchanged?

eg: bare 721 receiver, no bolt or barrel can a 700 bolt be used?

Thanks all
Mike

Maybe Not

The later 700 actions have that guide rail in the action and the matching slot in the bottom of the right bolt lug. I am not sure if they added material there. Aside from that, there isn't much difference. .......JACKIE

bolt with anti bind slot

jackie, the new 700 bolts will work on the 721,which is what he wants to do,now the 721 bolt won't work on the newer 700 action with the anti bind slot, but guess a slot could be milled in 721/722 bolts to work in the newer 700 actions, never tried to do it??

Thanks guys.

Another question: will a riveted in case extractor from an older 700 / 600 / 7 / 40x work in a 721 / 722. The part numbers seem to be different but I believe it's the same slot and rivet and the only difference is the protrusion of the "claw" that hooks the rim.

And yes I'm trying to hook a ppc case. I have and am doing it with the newer models but the 721 / 722 drags it out then lets it go. I'm looking at my options besides the sako conversions.
