I was reading some info on these two variants of 6PPC on 6mmBR website and it says that the 6PPC usa is slightly LARGER than the 6PPC and since I am NEW to this sport. Just what does this mean to me when I go 6PPC chambering as you guys suggested in earlier threads?????

Forget all of that PPC USA stuff. We base a 6PPC on the Lapua 220 Russian Case. Many of us have gone to great lengths in working with a Reamer Grinder, (AKA Dave Kiff), in establishing an ideal diameter for the reamed chamber with the dimensions at the web of the 220 Lapua case.

For a good generic chamber, the originol JGS 1045 reamer is still hard to beat. But, the throat is too long for many of the Double Radius Bullets that have become so popular. The 1045 was ground to suite the originol 7 1/2 ogive bullets such as Fowlers, Bergers, and Watsons. But the body size at the web is pretty close to right.

I personally think that Benchrest has become so specialized that you really should match your reamer to the bullet you are going to shoot. With the Bruno 00 Boat Tail, I favor a "zero" freebore, as this gets the overall case chamber volume back where it should be.

It would behove you to choose a bullet, then a reamer. Just my opinion.

There are some reamer grinds on file that reduce the web diamater of the chamber too much. These were brought out to correct poor reaming procedures that resulted in a oversized chamber. What happens when you use one of these "tight" reamers and the reamer actually cuts the correct size, the brass is too tight.

Also, since you are 'new" and are not heavilly invested in other stuff, I would highly recommend a .269 neck. It makes neck turning a breeze, and there are no downsides at all.

Give Dave Kiff a call at Pacific Precision. He is very helpfull in aiding a shooter in choosing the correct reamer grind.

Last, what bullet are you planning on shooting, and in what barrel configuration??.........jackie

Jackie is (as usual), correct, but remember...if you're gonna shoot score, you want a 30BR...don't worry at all about a 6PPC...I'm sure the folks in your area can fill you in on your best choice...
