You might get some very informative answers on the '1000 yd forum'. They are the 'experts' in this area.

The general consensus among extreme accuracy shooters is that the number of lands and grooves has little affect on accuracy, there are great shooting combinations in every thing from 3 grooves to 8 grooves.
One thing I have first hand knowledge of is this. If you go with a Krieger, get a .236 6-groove rather than a .237 4-groove. We have shot both, and the tighter barrel shoots the big VLD style bullets, especially the Lapua Scenar, better.........jackie

Thanks Jackie, that sounds like good advice. I dont know about the lapua's, I use mostly berger or jlk's. Thanks for the help

JUst the opposite with me!!

I have found just the opplosite to be tru regarding bore dia...
I have had several 6mm bbls....and only one of them was .236 bore...and it has been the only bbl. that I have ever had ((worst bbl. I ever had)) that wouldn't shoot the 80 thru 107 bullets well...I tried every combo tht I knew to work in other bbls and lots of stuff that was totally new...nuthin worked good ...oooo it went bang and shot lots of .4xx's and .5xx's at 100yds...but I dont have to tell you ...that is not good for what we are lookin for....
All of my other bbls work great....maby it was a bad bbl.!!????...but I re-chambered it as a 6 X 47 and it just about ruined me on that cal....then I took an old 14 twist Hart bbl with hi mileage and re did it to 6 X 47...and it shot the appropriate lil bulllets that it is twisted for ,excellent!!!....I must admit I have only had one .236" bbl...but ....it just about made me give up on my self......I still have it ....will sell it to you very reasonable(cheep!!) if You wana give it a try.tere is a shooter in these parts that uses a .236 bore with the Lapua bullets .....and they and it shoots good ...but not the bigger (fatter) Berger and Sierra stuff!!! Make up your own mind ...if you wana talk furter about it conatact me off-line....will give you all the details...Roger
PS...yes it was 8 twist...I chekd it several times...and four groove!!!!...just like several other bbls that I have ...but they are .237 bore.....and all shoot great...from lil to big bullets and just about every brand and type....
