6 Dasher

I had to get the hell out of "which caliber" before someone go choaked.........

ANYWAY!!

I just got my 6mm care package from Sinclair, since the smallest thing I ever load for is a 7mm rem mag. Ok, maybe a 30-06 might have passed my way once in a while. Usually 300 wby. Bullets, brass, dies,... all of the cleaning paraphernalia like bore guide, brushes ect...

ARE YOU GUYS SURE THAT YOU CAN GET 100+ GRN BULLETS TO GO 3000+ FPS OUT OF THAT IT-TY, BIT-TY, CASE:D:D You must need a 50" bbl and shoot it down hill and down wind. I was scared to hold it for fear of breaking it or denting it. I saw the small box and figured that they had shorted me 50 brass!:D WOW! This must be an efficient case. I haven't even gotten my new 300 broken in yet. Going straight to the dasher!! I think this will be a fun round to shoot!!

Case efficiency

The large overbore cases for the most part are a model of ineffiency and diminishing returns on powder invested. Prepare to be amazed. You will not see shooting or reloading the same again. If you are going to shoot VLDs the BR/Dasher will usually have more speed available than the bullets will stand. VLDs do not necessarily need to be shot at extreme speeds to be very accurate and have outstanding wind drift advantages.

Tod,

You Now have The round for long range shooting. I think all of IBS 600 yds records are held by 6BR or 6BR IMP. The IMP's will give you the speed without the pressures. I shoot the 6BRX, it very well for me. I run a 105 Berger at 2975 f/s, I can go faster, but that is where they shoot. Like Brian said you will be amazed . Good luck.

tod, like brian said it will push 105's faster than they can stand, have had speeds up to 3300 but they will shoot better at 3000 or less.

Using a healthy does of RE-15 and the 100grain+ projectiles, and into the 3000fps you will go.

I have one for BR, and a second nearly complete as a varmint rifle in BR format!

Turned or unturned necks?

Cheers

We are going with a .271 reamer for a no-turn neck. A quick check of the new brass makes me think that neck turning these cases would waste my time. They look that good!!:):)

thanks,

Tod,

My 6BRX is a 0.271" no turn, and it shot the 0.749" group

Not that the answers given here are wrong, but the Cass bothers use to shoot a 6mm/06, driving the 107 SMK at 3500+. They won a lot. And Mark probably remembers the two years when my 6 Ackley won just about every LG relay I shot at Hawks Ridge, either group or score, with 106 CRiver bullets going 3250. It also won LG overall the only time I shot Piedmont 600 yards.

No, you don't need these speeds, and yes, the chamberings are inefficient, and yes, barrel life is relatively short. The only thing I object to are statements like "it's been proven that the bullets shoot better at under 3,000fps."
