6 BR Load question

I'm having a custom benchrest rifle made in 6 BR and would appreciate some ideas on powder. The gun has a 14" twist Shilen match barrel and will be shooting Bart's 68 gr pills. Brass will be Lapua. Any thoughts on good accurate loads? Thanks in advance.

Try N135, H4895, Varget. Start low and work up. Seat the bullet just touching the lands.

6 BR powder

Accurate #2015 always works for me. Mine likes about 3150 vel. with 68 gr. bullets

Different Perspectives

You can see the different trains of thought with the 6BR. While it has more capacity than a 6PPC, many shooters are shooting it at less velocity than a typical BR shooter does with a 6PPC, using the same bullet.

I have always found that N135 gives the best all around performance. It acts the same way as N133 does, (load density, etc), in a 6PPC. Plus, you can count on VV powders to be very consistant from year to year when shot by weight.

One quirk that Ihave found with N135 is it shares that same weird tendancy to get squirrely when the bottom falls out of the humidity. Mind you, I am talking about agging capability as it pretains to Benchrest Accuracy.........jackie

6br load

My guns like 32.5g of benchmark behind a 65g flat base bullet. Of course Lapua brass. This has proven to be a very reliable load. I am running 3530 fps with that load in a 23" 1-14 twist barrel.

Good shootin'

Maybe I'll see you in Midland. I'm planning on making it my last registered match this year.

Another good powder in the 6BR is IMR 4320. It meters like VV powder and has a burn rate around N135 and Varget.
