I am looking to rent a reamer for chambering my next barrel, what do I need to know before I rent a reamer, like a solid pilot or bearing type, If I don't want to turn necks, what neck dia do I specify, any recommend rental business that have good sharp reamers ect. and another question, I don't have any 6.5 brass, but I do have a ton of 300 win mag brass, I see there is a 6.5x 300 win mag reamer, any thoughts!!!

A standard 6.5-284 Winchester reamer from Pacific has a .302/.301[tapered] neck. A match 6.5-284 Norma has a .296 or .297[untapered] neck. Norma brass that I have measures .2945 on average without touching a neck turner to it. The base is about .0015 or so tighter on the Norma. That said, I think if you resize W-W brass you will run into problems. I don't have any Lapua or Hornady brass on hand (anyone?) to tell you what this measures. The other difference between the two is the throat and leade. The Norma is going to be throated for long VLD type bullets.

A friend of mine who barrels about 10 6.5s each year bought both of these reamers and had fits with the Norma. He finally went to a standard, solid pilot 6.5-284 Win reamer (Clymer) and everything is rosie now. When using match chambers, you need to assume that you will have to prep your brass like match brass would be prepped.

I doubt you will find a reamer rental place with the Norma reamer.

Does NOT list the 6.5-284 in match configuration. You might have better luck borrowing one.
