6.5284 shaman

new barrel on my custom f class used the bill shaman recipe 50 grains of 4831 siera 142 grain hpbt bullets federal match primers barrel twist rate 1/8 rifle failed to shoot good groups at 300 yard match. One shooter shot 40xs on 40 shot targets.

Then you say the shooter that did well shot X's, which I assume means Score

It's not uncommon for a high capacity case like 6.5 x 284 to be bested by a 6BR. At 300 yards, accuracy and agging capability still is the most important factor, all other things, such as the shooters capability, be factored in.

You mentioned Bill Shehane's pet load. It's a good starting point, but every barrel is different, and for winning agging capability, any load will have to be tuned to a specific barrel

Thanks for the response Jackie it was a fun shoot 4 targets 10 shots at each target kinda of a score type shoot.I think I will go with 6pppc next time
