Anybody shooting a 6.5 Creedmoor in the Ruger 77 MII Target? if you are , what load shoots the best? Looking at 140 right now with the Hornady A-max. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Mike,
You should find joy somewhere around 41.5gr H4350 with either Fed 210 or CCI BR2 primers 140 A-max. That is by the way a Hornady factory load.
I don't have a Ruger but that load shoots well in a couple different guns.
James: I've been thinking along that line, but the last Horady charts i pulled down show a range of 36-40 max with H-4350 and a 140 gr. A-max. Others have told me that the factory was 41.5, but they don't stock the ammo around here. I'm a handloader so I think I'll go with what you told me and see what it does.
I have a friend that has two Creedmoors built on Stiller actions (Predator & Tac 30) Both shoot excellent w/factory Hornady ammo. We also tried the load data on back of the hornady box (I think it was 41.? of H4350) Five shot groups .250"-.360", w/140 Sierra MatchKings.
The factory ammo bullets are approx .050" off lands,, the handload Sierra 140's on the lands, not jammed. Ronnie shot 7 shots, just under 6" @ 1000 yds
