55 degree threading

AMMASHOOTA

Gary Gruber
i realize that i can probably get away with cutting 60 degree threads on the barrel i am prepping for an old Mauser action. I can't single point the action threads -- my lathe isn't big enough to swallow the action. I

i have a 55 degree threading bit and am wondering how to set it up. since my fishtail is a '60', how do you properly align the 55 degree bit?

Just use the 60, centering the tool on the V of the centergage, and squaring it with the piece. It takes a little common sense and a little patience.

Thanks for your help. that is what i thought, but sometimes when things appear too simple i will second guess myself and overlook the obvious.
