513 trigger

Arkrunner, I am going to join you in this info request.
I have a Remington 513 Matchmaster target rifle. It has been years since I measured the pull weight, I may be remembering incorrectly, but I think it is somewhere a little over 16 or 18 oz.
This rifle has been very accurate with CCI Green Tag. I am convinced that more accuracy can be wrung out of it if only it had a better trigger.
So there are at least 2 of us wanting a better trigger for our 513 rifles, and I am sure there are many others.
So, any help is appreciated!

513 triggers..........
Be advised that the 513 rifle/triggers date from an era when the smallbore rifle competition rules had a 3 pound trigger pull requirement. Also, these are not 3-lever triggers. Reducing the pull weight is possible, but a problem of inconsistent pull weight then arises. If you are already down into the 1-pound range, you are likely already at the limit for the design.

Thanks for the tips guys. That old 513 matchmaster has been fun all out of proportion to what you might think compared to other, more expensive, rifles that are generally thought to be better. The guy that had it before me supposedly shot for money with it. I always thought a better trigger would make it that much more fun to surprise people with.
Perhaps the guy that had it before me might have sold it to get a rifle with a better trigger. At least with that particular 513, I have always supposed he regretted it.

I think it is the same trigger as a Rem510.
I found it to be a dissatisfying process.
I used to claim I could do a trigger job on anything.
With much frustrating effort, the 510 trigger can be improved.

513T & 521T Triggers
Not sure about the 510 being the same, but I think you are right, Clark.
I have a 521T (scaled down version of the 513T) that shoots very well, but the trigger is horrendous! I have not had the opportunity to measure pull weight, but I'm sure it's "off the scale." Seems it has gotten much heavier recently. I've cleaned it as best I can without disassembly, but no dice. Anyone know of what could go wrong to cause the trigger to become much, much heavier? I would be very happy just to get it down to 2 or even 3 pounds. How do I go about doing this? Does it take a special guru gunsmith to work on these old triggers? I found someone selling a "reduced power trigger spring kit." Know anything about these?

The 513T was a very accurate target fifle for shot range. I practiced with mine on the IR50/50 Target, and was able to shoot several 250-23X's. But that was at 25 yards. Tried at 50, and gave up after my first 10 shot that were all 8's in not peticular spot on the target. I reworked the trigger, and all I can say, is I should have left it alone, because I now have a very unsafe 513T. Got some new trigger parts in from e-gun parts, but have not replaced the original trigger yet.

The 513 trigger has a spring in it that bears on the sear the other 500's -510-511- 512 don't have this-the 513 also has an over travel/ trigger weight -double ended spring as a separate part.It goes right in front of the trigger held by a large screw- what I did is stone the sear till it was almost to light then increase it with the weight adjusting spring screw till it was safe - this trigger was not designed to go much lower than 3 or 4 lbs.- If you can find the 513 parts they will fit the 510-511-512
