I am a member of Leicester & District Small Bore Rifle Club in the UK and our members compete in a number of benchrest postal competitions shot at 20 yds and 25 yds using PCP's including UKBR22 postals

This summer we are organising a 50 yd outdoor benchrest competition between our members using spring powered air rifles such as TX200's, Prosports,Walther LGV's and HW 8o/77's, and it would be interesting to extend this to a team competition with another club or clubs.

I wonder if there is a club in the USA that would like to take part in a team competition against Leics & District members.

I was thinking of perhaps a max of 6 shooters from the club take part in each round and the best 3 scores count using the standard UKBR/World/European benchrest 50yd/50m target. 25 scoring shots/card.

We could run the competition over the summer months and over several rounds. Scores to be displayed on this forum.

Each team score ex 750/month

50 yd....

I shoot my 300s stock gun at 50 yds. I have gotten groups under 5/8" ten shots. Now yesterday with A 7 mph wind it only moves em over about about 5". So you do have to fiddle alittle to pull them in. Pete B.
PS...theres no way I can group in that wind, but it is fun to try , and watch your pellets fly everywhere!!

Hi Pete
I have owned a couple of FWB 300 S match rifles over the years and tried them at 50 yds off the bench but like you I found that even a light wind would make grouping quite difficult

The AA TX200's, Prosports and similar rifles have around twice the power of the standard FWB 300S, so cope with the wind much better

I have not been able to get 10 shot groups with one of the recoiling spring rifles of 5/8" but as long as the conditions are favorable, these 12 ft lb rifles will give 1" groups at 50 yds with the right pellet

We have tried the 50M target with 12fpe guns. Our course has wind from all corners.

A huge prob was wind gusts the took shots into an adjacent box, creating a loss of points for the "extra shot".

With HV (20 fpe limit) rifles the issue is more rare, but not unseen. We at our club had trouble scoring above mid-sixes with rigs that score around 725's at 25M. YET, in anouther sort of contest, we were sometimes GROUPING under 1/2" at 50yds (chase the first shot much?).
