36x leupold

I'm having a little trouble deciding between a older 36x leupold without a locking ring, but ,with the tucker conversion..

The other is a newer BRD 36x leupold with the locking ring and without the Tucker conversion



They both are in good working order, i have always herd the older 36x leupold are not as good as the newer BRD.

Any thoughts on this would be a great help as i'm at a loss of what to do.

The Leupold 36X non-locking ring scopes are great scopes from my experiance.
Wally Siebert does a fine job of working on them-call him .

Don't send it back to leupold if you have a problem-they don't care.

I have had all models of Leupold 36X Scopes apart, and aside from the non locking objective, there is not much difference in how the internals work.

That locking objective is probably over rated, it does nothing to address the slack in other parts of that front objective assy.

On the D Model, they installed a forked spring, (and changed a few other things to accomodate it), but in my opinion,the spring was never the problem in the first place.

Cecil Tucker's fix does address the erector tube issue, so the older scope will probably work just fine. Or, it will work as well as any Leupold will.

As for the warranty, Leupold will still work on the scope with the Tucker Conversion, they will just charge you for the service..........jackie
