.30BR outside neck diameter unturned?

I have 100 cases that have been turned to .324 from a .330 neck. Will these cases have split necks from firing with the greater neck expansion? I hate to discard 100 Lapua cases.

Getting back to your actual question, these cases should work fine if properly sized (probably need a smaller bushing than your newer cases) but just may not last as long as they are being expanded and contracted more than necessary. I am assuming they are unfired. If they have been fired in another rifle your problem may be the base of the case not the neck.

Sam ...

Read this article about SIX [6] times and you'll know how to proceed: http://www.6mmbr.com/30BR.html. You should recognize the names in the article because two of them just provided you with advice in this thread.

I believe I'd run, not walk away, from the gunsmith you're dealing with and use one of the smiths that is listed [as the 30BR gunsmith for the match winners] in the NBRSA news. :)

My problem with walking away is the barrel job is already in the chambering stage, so I'll have to go with it until I can afford another barrel and the gunsmithing costs. I'll know next time... This is my second .30BR. The first was the standard .330 neck with the normal brass prep you guys do.

Tell the guy you change your mind and would preferr to go with a .330 neck and would wait untill a reamer was avalible. Your barrel and mostly your money!!! Randy
