300 yds under the lights at Charlene's Meadow

The pictures are as good as I could get with my camera. Anyway, got everything checked out. The moving backers are working great and had to do some tweaking on the lights. I just hope we can get the tunnel conditions that we get most nights. If not it will be a long night.

We tried that last year at Walker County, shooting 300 yard VFS.

Many of us spent a lot on various lights so we could see our flags. It didn’t work.

It really didn’t go well. Weird mirage was a problem. We had good lights on targets, but not seeing bullet holes was a major problem.

But that being said, best of luck with it. Shooting Group might be a lot different than Score.

It all depends on

what kind of a night it is. I have had lights on the range for probably close to 15 years. Some nights it is pure magic and you can shoot some really small stuff. Other nights you can't hardly make two bullets touch. Some of the time it's something in between. I am hoping it's one of those magic nights for the guys

I guess we will find out in a few weeks.

We shot under lights some at Luther back before Red tried to improve the range with dirt work. We were shooting at about 20 feet above the ground and didn't have that shelf at about the 125 yard line that they have now. There was some really small groups shot then at 200 yards. It was more that we ran out of daylight rather than trying to have night matches. I have an official screamer target from 1987 that was a .135" that was shot under lights there. We also shot a few at Kansas City. The match would start at 5 pm. Joe Archer and I would get up early on Saturday morning and get to DeSota at about 3 pm, shoot the match on Saturday. Spend the night in the club house and shoot Sunday and drive the 500 miles back home to go to work on Monday. I think that's the benefit of being young and dumb. That would kill me now.

I only shot on Richards range one night on that one night at 200yds you could just about close your eyes and pull the trigger and still shoot a good group.
I am hoping for one of those nights on the 20th of next month.

I only shot at Richard's once during the day. From the looks of my groups, I DID shoot with my eyes closed. I don't see how it will be any different in the dark!
