.30 X 44 Load data

I sort of traded for a Seely Masker built PAS action BR rifle in .30 X 44. I have a number of unfired and fired formed cases with it but no load data. Anyone have starting loads and powders that work well in it?

Sure. My favorite was 36.8gr of H322 powder behind a Berger 125g flat base moly bullet with CCI, BR2 primers. This load consistently turned in .223 groups in my Hunter rifle.

I'm sure you will get some favorite load recommendations from other Hunter class shooters as this is a popular Hunter caliber.
 
30x44's will eat a heck of a lot of different powders. You can shoot N-133, H-322, H-4198, 4197, 2230-c. They all work. Most are near full case loads. Heck, you can even use 2015 if you don't care about a partial case load.
 
I use to have my best results with either N-130 or H-4198 at around 37g, with a 118g 7 ogive bullet. the lighter bullets shot fast work well also. Reloader 7 would work as well around the same load.

The usual and smart policy is to begin a grain or so lower than guoted loads and work up. The capacity of your cases may be smaller, etc, etc.

Just take a look at any of the loads I have posted for the 30-30 and try them. As for 2015, I don't see it as a partial case load. Around 40gr of the stuff shoots great behind 115gr to 125gr bullets. I could name over 15 powders that would all shoot well in a 30X44. Here is a few: Scot 4197, IMR4198, H4198, N200, N201, RE7, RE10X, IMR8208 Old, 8208XBR New, H322, Benchmark, AA2015, N130, N133, H4895, IMR3031. That should get you started, and I didn't even name one ball powder.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I opened the cabinet and the first powder on the shelf was 322. I loaded 15 cases with 36.5 gr and pulled the trigger on then this AM. Had about 1 1/2 inch vertical so I think I need to PMI (Pour more in). I'll load some more with a grain or 2 more and try again. I'll try some N130 also as I have a good supply of that on hand.

Lots of people like that powder but I never found I could make it work in any of my barrels ( I had 2, 30-44 rifles I was running and probably 6 barrels over the time I ran them) . I believe you will find faster powders will be the very best for you. There is a pretty good spectrum co choose from. I think BIB still makes bullets on the 1.080 jacket and I know 10X makes them; Have friends who use the 10X.They are generally 125g and heavier.

Loaded 15 cases with same 125 gr Berger bullets this AM. Added 1 gr of 322 to 5 cases (37.8) and the same load of N-130 in 10 more and went the range. Powder was not quite up to the bottom of the neck. Much better results. All 3 groups measured under 1/2 inch but still showing vertical. No pressure signs. Next time I'll up both loads by 1/2 gr and see how it works.
 
so far 38.5 grains of h322 behind most any 118-125gr bullet is the load in my 18twist rock creek barrel. it also shoots the 135 sierra and 39.5gr of h4895 very well. i have been wanting to try some h4198 with the 118gr bullets but have not gotten around to it. good luck. i really like the chambering.
