Mike
Just got back from looking at a job and saw your post.
The object of my developing my 30PPC was to build a super accurate 30 caliber for score shooting, that had a little less recoil than a 30BR, hence a tad more manageble in a 10.5 pound Rifle. Also, there are a multitude of shooters with Rifles set upfor the 6PPC bolt face, hence, you just screw on the 30 Barrel.
My reamer is on file with Dave Kiff, it features a zero freebore .332 neck, and a trim to 1.505.
I make the cases by simply fring a 220 Russian, with a 22 caliber bullet, a full charge of N133, in a 6PPC barrel that I reamed the neck portion out to .332. What comes out is a fully formed, non neck turned 30PPC case that is the correct length, and ready to turn. Of course, you could fire the cases in a 30 barrel, but I do not know how much pressure it would build. There is also the option of just necking the cases up, but be warned, they will come out quite a bit shorter.
I shoot 112 grn BIB's, behind enough N120 to make it go at least 2950. That is what you would call a full density load. We also use IMR Austrailian 4227, with great results. But BE VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS POWDER. You can go from just right to "primers falling out" with just a few tenths.
My Rifles are all built on 1-17 twist Kriegers.Accuracy is on par with a 30BR, in other words, at 100 yards, it is deadly for score shooting.........jackie
