.258 agg on windy day?

I have been shooting for approx. 1 year. Have not shot my first comp yet. How would a .258 agg 5 groups do?

That's why we compete. A .258 could be really good or it could be really bad. Until you can sit down with a bunch of other guys and gals and shoot under the same conditions at the same time, you will never know.

Quit worrying about if you will win or lose...believe me ...you are going to lose. If you shoot Benchrest you will lose....a lot.

But..

No one else really cares how you do (unless you win). They are not looking at your agg thinking how bad a shooter you are. Why? because we have all been there and periodically will be there again. We are all there shooting to do the best we can do. We try not to make mistakes....at most matches you can look back and usually find one shot or one target you flubbed that cost you a win.

So the answer....a .258 is good enough to comfortably shoot in any match. Quit practicing and go to a match. You will advance you shooting ability 10 fold faster at matches than by yourself.

I havent gone to a match yet because I havent had any close enough to go to. I believe what you are telling me. & Will have 6 matches to go to this year. 2 for group & 4 for
score. I will be Shooting my 6ppc in score matches against rail guns. I just want to shoot. My delima is I dont have enough funds to travel a lot to out of town matches. I Hope to some day. Thanks for the encouragement.

On one day it might be up near the top and another day it might be near the back of the pack.

The match is at the Tomball club. It is a club Match. When I talked to Jackie I may have misunderstood. There are going to be 3 classes. Stock,modified & benchrest. In Benchrest He said what ever you could get on the table. I will have to clarify this with him. Sorry if I was wrong.

That is what I was thinking. Its encouraging to think I may do ok when I get to my first match. Until then I will Keep the trigger time going.

No Rail Guns. That will be the only restriction.
Aggs are relevant for the day you shoot them. The very best agg I have ever shot in Registered Competition, a .157 at the last Crawfish held in Louisianna, got me 3d place........jackie
 
The reason a Rail gun would have no advantage in a score match

A rail gun is designed to put multiple shots in exactly the same place.

In score shooting the objective is to place a shot in the perfect center of a target and then place the next four shots in the perfect center of four additional different bullseyes. A rail Gun typically is actually fairly hard to move around a target and yields no particular advantage in controlling where its first shot goes. Its big advantage is in that it returns (theoretically) perfectly to the same aiming point on the target and rules out factors such as holding the gun differently. This is no advantage in a Score shoot.

Sorry Jackie I hope I didnt mislead anyone. Yes Dick it makes perfect sense. I have seen only pictures of one, not one in person. I am looking forward to my first Match be it score or group.

you can come up to austin the last sunday of this month and shoot with the Austin Rifle Club.
We shoot score in the afternoon
We also shoot in the morning but I am not sure what we are shooting then.
